DANCEMAKERS 2020 PEER LEARNING NETWORK
The third edition of the Peer Learning Network was underway until COVID-19 hit - it is now hiatus until further notice.
Funded by the RBC Emerging Artists Project, we welcomed both dance artists in the very beginning of their choreographic careers and those transitioning into choreography after other established practices as visual artists or dancers, encouraging them to collaborate on group or solo works, in a safe space at Dancemakers.
This season’s participants were Aria Evans, Brodie Stevenson, Jamila S. Joseph, Jennifer Laiwint, Kalaisan Kalaichelvan, Mary-Dora Bloch-Hansen, Mushtari Afroz, Nyda Kwasowsky, and Sarah Koekkoek, representing a range of practises.
We’re delighted that 2019 Peer participant Rodney Diverlus has returned to coordinate the 2020 Peer program. Rodney is a Haiti-born, Florida-trained, and Toronto/Calgary-based dancer, choreographer, actor, curator, director, & producer who has performed throughout Canada, the US, and the Caribbean in dance, theatre, and musical theatre. He holds a BFA in Performance Dance from Ryerson, and is a co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto.
