Dancemakers' Resident Artists

Resident Artist Dana Michel

In this video, Dana Michel speaks about her work, motherhood, how she came to be a choreographer, and what it means to work with four dancers.

I dig the work of Dana Michel, resident artist at @DancemakersTO and am excited to see what she comes with. Sook-Yin Lee @sookyinlee January 25, 2015

RESIDENT ARTIST ZOJA SMUTNY

In this video, Zoja Smutny speaks about what she’ll be working on at Dancemakers, her background and what art should be. We are proud to have had Zoja as our 14-15 Resident Artist, and hope you joined us to see what she created throughout her time here.

"The work [Rosé Porn] proposes a wide range of sensorial and spectatorial relationships, exploring the intimate dynamics they foster. And all the while, it glows pink." — Fabien Maltais-Bayda, esse arts + opinions

"But Rosé Porn is experimental in the literal sense – it is actually an experiment. Smutny is trying out a collaborative way of creating that allows individual artists to integrate and conspire without overwhelming each other. " — Mark Mann, The Dance Current

RESIDENT ARTIST ANTHONY HAMILTON

Anthony joins us for his 2016-2019 Residency in June 2016. This award-winning artist hails from Melbourne, Australia where he has garnered a reputation for creating work that "combines experimental movement, visual art, costume, sound design, video or lighting to achieve an enigmatic outcome."
