Jaber Ramezan

Jaber Ramezan is an Iranian-born writer, director and choreographer based in Toronto. For more than fifteen years, his interdisciplinary practice has moved across theatre, dance and cinema, investigating relationships between bodies, space, memory, constraint and forms of resistance. His works include Swim Team, We Can Not Talk About It and Slow Sound of Snow, which earned him the Best Director Award at the ITSELF Festival in Warsaw.

In 2024, Boundaries of Bodies was presented as part of Danse Élargie at Théâtre de la Ville – Sarah Bernhardt in Paris. The work was subsequently presented at Théâtre de la Ville – Les Abbesses in September 2025. Jaber is a laureate of the Institut français × Cité internationale des arts residency programme and participated in Transmission Impossible, the choreographic research programme of the 79th Festival d’Avignon.

In October 2026, his new choreographic work The Chairs will have its world premiere at Festival d’Automne à Paris / MC93 – Maison de la Culture de Seine-Saint-Denis. He is co-founder and Artistic Director of the–hOle–studio, a Toronto-based interdisciplinary performance company working across contemporary dance, theatre and artistic research.
