Indigo Dowdie has dedicated over two decades to the dance industry as a dancer, choreographer, educator, writer, and dance anthropologist. His work explores the ways in which we all experience dance in our everyday lives, throughout time and throughout history. With a multitude of styles and philosophies under his belt including, modern, ballet, tap, hip hop, ballroom, and jazz, Indigo brings a uniquely diverse perspective to the dance world. His history in dance education, as well as lived experiences as an Afro-Caribbean dancer, set the tone for Indigo’s current approach to dance. Indigo aims to create more space in the hearts and lives of all kinds of people for dance, especially those who have historically been subjugated and separated from their dance roots.
