Brigita (e/they) is an emerging, protean, trans*, diasporic-Lithuanian artist working in so-called Toronto weaving together a life-long engagement in Lithuanian folk culture and training in Punking/Whacking/Waacking, vertical dance, textiles, and new-media art techniques. Trying to reconcile the dissonance between their gender and cultural identity, they are interested in glitches as generative errors that reveal pathways to alternate realities. Drawing from eir experiences in folk and street dance, e wants to create spaces for people to dream/queer/question/reimagine tradition collectively. As they travel between digital,performance, and woven realms, Brigita hopes to connect-the-dots between them.
