Curatorial Statement
In the role of a Curator, I wanted to archive the explorations and enrich the repertoire of experience, with a strong inspiration from the genre of dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam and Contemporary. I explored the question of how the dancers deconstruct the vocabulary of their acquired skill set to implement their tools in soulful rendition of Tagore’s poetic compositions.
Specifically, I ask: How did this creative journey begin and evolve over practice for the dancers? This guided the hybrid process to formulate knowledge with equal importance on transmission of the vocabulary within the site of the body, inside and outside. The dialogic discourse on performance allowed to study and encourage new understandings of the mechanisms of exchange, sharing and reshaping within the contours of performance studies and theatrical art forms. This was initiated by Tagore who guided the rise of the hybrid dancing style nurtured through the vocabularies of dance forms which had a pedagogical structure.
