Athena Lucie Assamba

Athena Lucie Assamba is a Cameroonian Montreal-based multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary artist, performer, choreographer, and emerging dance researcher. Rooted in African source dances, her practice explores movement as a space for liberation, healing, and collective transformation.
Drawing from traditional Cameroonian dances, street dance cultures, and Afrofuturist thought, she creates interdisciplinary works at the intersection of dance, live music, fashion, and scenography.
Through works such as BOSEMBO, NKUL NNAM, and African Celestial Beings, she investigates ancestry, ritual, spirituality, and embodied memory. Holding a degree in Neuroscience, she researches movement as a site of knowledge, care, and cultural transmission.
