Artist

Xicada crafts immersive electronic compositions inspired by ritual, transformation, and altered perception. Drawing on spectral vocals, shifting rhythms, and warped textures, she creates sonic environments that feel like stepping onto an alien spaceship—a caustic kaleidoscope of sound that is always shifting, hallucinatory, frantic, and pulsating, yet tinged with ancestral magic. Her work conjures liminal worlds where futuristic abstraction and ancient resonance collide, forming a chilling soundtrack to a cyber-goth future suspended in a dimensional rift.

Part of Canada’s experimental underground, Xicada has shared the stage with Dreamcrusher, Pessimist, Spike Hellis, Dis Fig, Black Ox Orkestar, Jessica Moss, and Hesaitix. Her work has been released on Halocline Trance, Foxy Digitalis, and Borscht Records. She is also one half of Hysteria, a project with Xodkaar rooted in feminine rage, hope, and grief. Xicada is the co-founder of Borscht, an artist hub, label and internet radio station, and an active member of Degeneral Strike, a non-profit collective dedicated to experimental sound and community-based music. In 2025, she performed at MUTEK, Pique, and Project Nowhere—her MUTEK performance presented as part of a Rinse France residency—and brought her live show internationally through a series of performances in Taiwan.
