Shalva-Lucas Makharashvili

Shalva-Lucas Makharashvili is a Toronto-based vocalist and bassist specializing in traditional Georgian polyphony. Raised in a musical household, he has performed professionally since age eight, appearing at the Small World Music Festival, with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall, and on the TV series The Borgias. He has co-lead workshops in Georgian polyphony, and recently completed the Small World Music Incubator program. He is a founding member of the Georgian polyphonic family ensemble Ori Shalva, which showcased at Mundial in 2025, and also performs with Songscapin’, a project lead by Andrea Kuzmich blending Georgian and Ukrainian polyphony with jazz.
