Arts Assembly

Curator

Arts Assembly is a not-for-profit, community-centric arts organization that emphasizes artistic collaboration. It is committed to working with social practice and research-based interdisciplinary artists who are similarly working to expand the notion of what art can be and do. Co-directed by Whitney Brennan and Meichen Waxer, Arts Assembly creates opportunities for artists to engage critically with communities through accessible programming, including residencies, workshops, and public projects. Rooted in care, reciprocity, and process, the organization fosters dialogue and experimentation while building meaningful relationships across disciplines and geographies. Arts Assembly operates between Vancouver and Toronto.

Curatorial Statement

Arts Assembly is a not-for-profit organization co-directed by Whitney Brennan and Meichen Waxer. Operating between Vancouver and Toronto, it supports interdisciplinary, socially engaged artists through accessible programming that expands the possibilities of what art can be and do.

Rooted in care, experimentation, and relationship-building, the project asks how performance can be reimagined as a site of connection and reciprocity.
