Unexpected Discoveries

Thanks to everyone who joined us, in person and in spirit for our 35th Anniversary celebration on May 19, 2010.

It was a celebration attended by great friends, family, colleagues, and supporters. Knowing that there is such a strong and engaged community passionate about Dancemakers makes us feel extremely fortunate to be creating and presenting new dance in our city.

The presence of so many of the founding company members and alumni throughout our 35 (+1!) year history was inspiring to say the least. Their stories and energy made the night truly special.

We are incredibly privileged to have so many great people behind us. We could not have made it this far without each and every one of them.

Here’s to another 35 years!

An evening of performance and celebration honoring the 35th Anniversary of Dancemakers.

May 19th

For one night only, we present the avant-première of Double Bill #2; a new work by Artistic Director Michael Trent, guest choreographer k.g. Guttman and the remarkable Dancemakers company. The new work revels in the pleasure of dance. Drawing material from So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, social dancing and the artists own personal and idiosyncratic styles, Double Bill #2 pushes and pulls sensibilities of cheesiness, sex, vulgarity and exposure. See it first before it travels to Ottawa for its World Premiere at the prestigious Canada Dance Festival.

Join us after the performance for food, drinks, music, and even more unexpected discoveries. We have invited Dancemakers alumni, friends, colleagues, and supporters spanning three and half decades of creation and dancing. Share the stories, friendships, and shared passions of Dancemakers and the Centre for Creation with these remarkable artists and vital allies.
