DANCEMAKERS' RESIDENCY PROGRAM: A SPACE TO CREATE

HERE’S OUR STORY

Emerging Resident Artist Sofí Gudiño is just one of our five resident artists this year. Andrea Spaziani completed her three-year residency last season, while Sofi is already entrenched in her second of two years with us.

We asked them about the impact of their residencies on their research and creative work, and both talked about nurturing, space to create, financial support…

Your contribution to the Residency program is vital, allowing us to offer spaces in which dance can ask of itself what it’s already doing and where it hopes to be going. We are a home for artists within, close to, and observing the art form to experiment with these questions and to formulate new ones. Our Residency program allows us to fill the gaps in choreographic development opportunities in the local, provincial, and national sectors. With a curatorial focus on artists working in conceptual and experimental approaches to a multitude of dance genres, we provide a space for artists whose approaches to choreography are research oriented and who do not work with a prescriptive view of what dance is, but rather seek to extend or define the formal boundaries of their form.

Please support us today!
Warmly,
Amelia & Frances
