Dancemakers Farewells Emi Forster and Robert Sauvey

It is with great regret that Dancemakers Centre for Creation farewells Curator Emi Forster and Executive Director Robert Sauvey.

Ms. Forster will be returning to her home country of Australia at the end of June due to personal reasons. Ms. Forster joined the organization last year as part of the inaugural Co-Curatorial team alongside Benjamin Kamino.

"I am incredibly sad to leave the Dancemakers team," Ms. Forster said. "It was my absolute dream to take on this role, and I am disappointed that I am not able to stay for a longer term. It has been exhilarating to launch the new IPH model here, and I am proud of what Ben and I have achieved in our first year. Sadly, I will be watching from a distance as the organization continues to grow at an exciting time in its history. I thank the Board of Directors for their trust and enthusiasm, my colleagues for their dedication, imagination and passion and the dance community for their support."

Mr. Sauvey will end his role at Dancemakers in mid-June to take up an appointment as Executive Director of Dance Umbrella of Ontario.

"This has not been an easy decision for me," said Mr. Sauvey. "I truly believe in the IPH and its goals. I am very excited about Dancemakers new direction and feel fortunate to have been part of the team to have launched the IPH model. It has been a pleasure to helm Dancemakers as Executive Director over the past two and a half years through significant organizational changes. This year has been a gratifying experience implementing the IPH with the new Curators. I am very proud to have worked with everyone involved in taking Dancemakers in its new direction and I look forward to watching the organization’s bright future ahead."

Dancemakers’ Board stated that, "while we are sorry to lose Rob as our Executive Director we are pleased that he will be continuing to take a leadership role in dance in this province at Dance Umbrella of Ontario. DUO is an important organization supporting Ontario dance artists, including many who have worked with Dancemakers."

Dancemakers Board and staff thank both Ms. Forster and Mr. Sauvey for their commitment to the organization, and wish them all the best in the future.
