A massive lung...a miniature planet...an ice cube in your palm.

With his new piece choreographer George Stamos points to our essential interconnections and the potential for sensitivity despite brutal circumstances. The theatre is transformed into a play-space full of textures and lights creating a context for abstraction and intimacy outside of conventional ideas of community, gender and sexuality. In the dance the performers embody the psychophysical reserves that inspire survival while projecting their sensations, bodies and voices.

Sometimes nude, sometimes adorned in layers of protective clothing, like shells or extra skins accumulating and falling to the side, the dancers negotiate the many degrees of exposure. Mining a rich terrain of movement, sound, costume and installation they address the audience in both subtle and blunt ways. reservoir-pneumatic encourages a questioning of one’s perceptions of self, other and the planet. How connected are we? How do we deal with co-habitation in its many forms? What are we connecting with in ‘solitude’?

Thinking Out Loud
Friday, September 26 at 7:00pm
A new initiative for deeper engagement and discussion about dancing and ideas with our new pre-show event: Thinking Out Loud. Lead by our Resident Dramaturge/Animateur Jacob Zimmer and Artistic Director Michael Trent, these focused conversations are inspired by the evening’s work. This inaugural series will take place in the recently named Michael J. Baker studio from 7-7:45 - grab a drink and lend us your thoughts.
